Another night of multiple dances!

We love it when we have multiple dances! We get to see lots of friends from all over!

Today, Operation Blessing International starts their departure from Slidell and the Gulf Coast area.

The day after Katrina, Operation Blessing came to help the devastated area. My first experience with them was the daily hot meals I enjoyed from their mobile kitchens, as we had no power and no water. They have been here for two and a half years, long after the rest of the country has forgotten our plight, helping the relief and recovery efforts. There are hundreds and hundreds of personal stories about what they have done for us, but all I have room for here is a brief recap.

They have donated:

• Millions of dollars in cash grants
• Hundreds of thousands of hot meals
• Millions of pounds of construction supplies
• Hundreds of thousands of hours of volunteer labor
• Free medical and dental care for thousands of patients
• Pallets of toys for children homeless during Christmas
• $23 million in medicine to the LSU health care system for Katrina victims
• “Katrina Kid’s Camp,” a summer day camp aimed at helping children cope with negative emotions stemming from Hurricane Katrina

It’s impossible to thank them enough for everything they have done for us. When Jody Herrington, Director of U.S. Disaster Relief for Operation Blessing International, called to ask if we could take a group photo before their departure, we leaped at the chance.

These are some of the people responsible for our on-going recovery.

Whew! Meant to post these a lot sooner, but things have been CRAZY at the studio! This is the last week to get all the xmas stuff back in time so it’s been a mile a minute. Northshore’s Sadies is Saturday; at least that will be a fun end to the week! One of the coolest things about working here are the “blasts from the past;” Paul and I hadn’t seen Meagan (in white, below) since about eighth grade and suddenly this stunning Senior walks in! Meag, it was so good to see you again!
